Yoga for Amputees is a free class open to amputees and their caregivers and people in wheelchairs and is supported by the Yoga on High Foundation. Through the use of yoga postures and breathing techniques, you will learn to safely stretch, strengthen, and relax your body. Emphasis is placed on stabilizing the body, using props when necessary, prior to moving into a pose. Overall benefits of this gentle yoga practice include reduced stress, increased energy, better range of motion, better circulation, and increased strength and stability. The class is open to all amputees (upper or lower extremity), with or without prosthetics, of all physical levels, and their caregivers as well as people in wheelchairs. No yoga experience necessary; wear comfortable clothing and be ready to move your body.
