Abby Dorn is a yoga teacher, musician, actress, and mother of two beautiful boys. She has been singing and acting her whole life, became a certified yoga teacher in 2001, and was overjoyed to discover kirtan as the perfect union of her life’s passions. Abby did her 500 hr yoga teacher training with Alan Finger, founder of Ishta Yoga, in NYC, and has additional certification in prenatal yoga and Itsy Bitsy Yoga for babies and toddlers. She is influenced by many teachers including Mark Whitwell, Lois Nesbitt, Ana Forest, and Rodney Yee. Abby taught for seven years throughout the five boroughs of NYC, and for three of those years ran her own studio in Brooklyn. She relocated to Columbus,OH in 2008 and currently teaches yoga fulltime for Balanced Yoga, Grow Yoga, Yoga on High, The Cancer Support Community, The James Cancer Center, and North Broadway Children’s Center.
Abby studied voice with Marilyn Nims and Garyth Nair, and has sung with various choral and a cappella groups. She has performed in many musicals, professionally with University of Findlay Summerstock, Stage One in Louisville, KY, and in her three years as a company member of Shadow Box Puppet Theatre in Brooklyn. She currently sings with the local band Topher James and Biscuit Brigade. Abby's first kirtan was with Wah in 2001, and she is most influenced by her chanting experiences with Krishna Das, Snatam Kaur, and Deva Premal. Abby has accompanied Mike Cohen on vocals and guitar, Girish on vocals and harmonium and had the privilege of recording in studio with Krishna Das as part of the Cosmic Kirtan Posse of New York for his album, Heart Full of Soul. She led her first kirtans at her studio, Vayu Yoga Center in Brooklyn, NY, and she loves collaborating with Holly.
