Gail Larned has been joyfully teaching yoga since 1988. She began teaching Gentle Yoga, but now teaches Ashtanga new beginners and Half Primary Series classes, and Hatha Level 1 and 2 classes. Her Hatha classes are strongly influenced by her Ashtanga practice and can be a bit challenging; however, she always teaches with a sense of joy and compassion, enabling her students to benefit from what she has to share. Many of her students have told her that yoga has changed their life by eliminating or lessening chronic pain and stress. Gail is now incorporating the study of the Yamas (restraints) and Niyamas (observances) into her Hatha classes to broaden students’ understanding of yoga, emphasizing the point that yoga is not just the poses—it’s a way of life.
Gail graduated from the Yoga on High 200-hour Teacher Training Program and has finished the 500-hour Advanced Teacher Training Program. She has also completed teacher trainings with Rodney Yee, Tim Miller and David Swenson. She’s benefited so much from both her own practice and her teaching that she loves to share yoga with others. Gail is also a fiber artist, long time community activist and enthusiastic grandmother. She endeavors to “talk her walk” when sharing her knowledge and experiences with her students.
