Marisa Barsotti

Marisa Barsotti RD, LD, A.H.E.
For decades Marisa has had a passion for food. Witnessing how food affected people mentally and physically, not only on a personal level, but as a dietetic aide in nursing homes through high school into college was inspiring and sparked the desire to make it a lifelong study.

As an athlete from a young age, continuing on as a varsity athlete at The Ohio State University, her curiosity and passion for food as medicine grew into a Bachelor of Science in nutrition, followed by a well-rounded community and clinical internship and masters classes at Loyola University Chicago.

Following the clinical path as a dietitian in rehabilitation and nursing homes, and a bariatric weight loss hospital, and earning a certificate through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in Adult Weight Management gave her the ability to work one on one with people, but just wasn’t getting the feeling that nutrient prescription was the whole picture. Throughout her career she has maintained her one on one nutrition counseling and nutrition presentation skills as a contract dietitian in various fitness facilities in Columbus and large group settings.

In 2012 she began her yoga path and attained her 200 hour yoga teacher training. This opened up a new way to look at food and eating mindfully that she felt added to the whole picture regarding eating and overall wellness.  She has been teaching yoga and incorporating nutrition tips and recommendations into her classes, and feels it is a perfect fit.

She has recently graduated from Yoga On High’s School of Ayurveda and has completed the level 1 600 hour Ayurvedic Health Educator training, and is continuing the path to become a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist. She feels like she is finally at home combining her dietetics background with the principles of Ayurveda and yoga while helping others apply them to their daily lives.

Marisa’s personal life as a wife and mother of 3 young children keeps her on her toes, but overall they are the motivation to follow what she feels is her dharma to help others through the power of food. It is a constant riddle to be solved on a day to day basis regarding keeping not only her kiddos happy and healthy but herself. She practices Ashtanga and vinyasa style yoga, and enjoys meditation and pranayama daily. She feels the combination of the hectic life she leads, her passion for eating, cooking, and constantly learning about food enables her to offer others insight into also finding wellness through food.
