Mary Sinclair teaches prenatal yoga classes and workshops at Yoga on High. Having obtained her certification as a Balance™ teacher at the Balance Center in Palo Alto, California, under the tutelage of Jean Couch, she continues to study and train regularly. Her most recent studies include a trip to Paris, France, to study with Noelle Perez-Christiaens, the original founder of the Balance technique. She also studies with Noelle’s senior teachers twice a year at the Balance Center.
Since 1990, Mary has actively explored ways to live in optimal balance within the body. She brings passion and dedication to her classes, helping her students to experience life in an aligned and pain-free manner. Rather than simply explaining the theory of what “to do,” she teaches “how to” practices that relieve tension and pain.
In 2001, Mary was certified to teach prenatal yoga from the Seattle Holistic Center in Seattle, Washington and graduated from Yoga on High’s 200-hour Teacher Training Program, thereby meeting Yoga Alliance’s standards as a Registered Yoga Teacher. She has also been certified by Yoga for Two Prenatal Teacher Training with Mary Barnes in New York City in 2006. Since 2001, she has instructed Hatha classes at Yoga on High where she began the prenatal yoga program in 2002. In these prenatal classes, hundreds of pregnant women have learned to free themselves of lower back pain under Mary’s instruction. She has developed and taught prenatal yoga teacher training certification courses and many specialized workshops.
Mary received her 500-hour yoga teacher certification (advanced teacher training) under Yoga Alliance standards in 2007 through the Shiva Shakti Synthesis teacher training program in which she is now an active contributor. After completing courses with the Central Ohio School of Massage in 1996, she became an active, licensed massage therapist. She has also studied at the Columbus Polarity Therapy Center and is attuned in Reiki Level 1 and 2. Mary has taught various workshops and teacher-training courses at Yoga on High and other locations throughout Central Ohio, at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in Fairbanks, AK, and at the Balance Center in Palo Alto, CA.
