Michael took his first yoga class in 2004 on a lovely beach in Koh Phangan, Thailand. Immediately he developed a love for yoga that has since grown to become the path of his life. After spending a few years working and traveling, he decided it was time to become more intent on his practice. While studying massage therapy, yoga became the best tool he had to keep his health, combat stress, and help manage his day-to-day existence. In August 2010 he started a daily yoga practice that includes asana, pranayama, and meditation. He has studied with Devarshi Steven Hartman, Megha Nancy Buttenheim, and Jovinna Chan. Michael received his 200hr ytt certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Michael is currently studying at Yoga on High with Martha Marcom and other amazing teachers, working towards his 500hr certification.
Michael blends his personal Power Yoga practice with his Kripalu training to bring a powerful asana practice that encourages opening and personal growth. Of the multitude of benefits yoga brings to his life, one of the most important to him is how, through practice and getting to know his body and mind, he can gain insight into what he feels and who he truly is.
