Stella’s first experience with yoga happened after a visit to the doctor in 2003. She was grinding her teeth in her sleep and thought she would need a mouth guard. Her doctor prescribed the following: 1) Stop drinking coffee; 2) Stop chewing gum; and 3) Find an activity that relieves stress. She ignored the first two and signed up for a free yoga class. She stuck with it, and in 2008 she took her first Ashtanga class and fell in love with the practice. She discovered that not only did yoga relieve symptoms of stress but it boosted her confidence and has led her to do things she thought she could never do.
Inspired by the benefits she received from this practice, she wanted to share this with others. Stella has completed Yoga on High's 200-hour Teacher Training Program (2009) as well as the 300-hour program (2015). In addition to studying with Martha, Marcia and Linda, Stella has studied with Tim Miller, Maty Ezraty, Doug Keller, David Swenson, Kino MacGregor and David Keil.
In addition to Ashtanga yoga, Stella teaches Vinyasa Yoga, iRest Yoga Nidra and Aerial Yoga. Her mission is to teach students that it's ok if you never achieve your goal pose or enlightenment. The best parts of practicing yoga are the adventures, struggles, and cultivating patience and love towards ourselves and others.
Off the mat, Stella loves running, biking, aerial movement and writing bad haikus. She has recently taken on the hobby of chasing sunsets with her dog, Luna.
